Summer Trout Fishing and Outdoor Adventure

Big Fish Year—Another Mouse Year?

There have not been any monster floods during the winter and we are experiencing warmer weather now—so the trout will be building condition nicely. In addition to this to this, the Beech trees had a bumper flowering season last summer, which has caused an abundance of seeds alongside the rivers for the mouse population. This normally leads to trophy-sized trout that feed on the mice and for those anglers who have experienced this phenomenon in the past, the condition of the trophy sized rainbows and browns has to be seen to be believed. Prospects are also great for another good cicada year, which is when the summer dry fly fishing really comes into its own on our local rivers.
