A Year Round Outdoor Paradise
At present we have snow on the mountains and the ski season is in full swing. There are so many outdoor adventures to enjoy during the clear, crisp days we often experience at this time of year. The Tongariro region truly is a magnificent outdoor paradise with ski fields just 40 minutes away. Our five first class golf courses within 45 minutes are a big draw card, as are our heli-hiking and guided walks. Not to forget the hot thermal pools, open fires, fine dining and unique fishing lodge atmosphere of Tongariro Lodge.

Fly fishing on the Tongariro and nearby rivers is starting to hot up with the Lake Taupo major spawning runs just getting underway. From now until November, in the vicinity of 50,000 prime adult rainbow trout will migrate up the Tongariro River and magnificent sport is to be had. October marks the start of our spring and summer fishing season, when our back country rivers open, and prospects look excellent for another great season.
